Our Trip back to Savannah

We had a very long trip in the car. We had to becarful when leaving the house on Tilghman Island. The reason for that is because the roads were very slippery and very slick.

Our Day In Maryland

We got stuck On Tilghman Island for two days because of a snow storm. We had trouble getting through the snow. We had to shovle the snow to get accross the street. We did have fun in the snow having a snow ball fight. Then we had to becarful crossing the street.

We are still on the Eastern shore and really socked in by the snow. Fortunately we have lots of food, although the sodas are starting to run low! We will not be able to dig out in time to leave tomorrow, so our next window of opportunity will be Monday AM.
The guys have been talking, using the computers, playing video games and watching movies. So far, so good.

Safe from the Blizzard

Our second day of sight seeing in Washington was cut short because of the weather. With two feet of snow in the forecast, we decided to leave DC and head for my house on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. We stopped at a grocery store for provisions and are settled in, watching the blizzard from in front of the fireplace.

Tonight the gentlemen fixed dinner - spaghetti, salad, and bread. Gail and I relaxed while the guys cooked, set a lovely table, served the meal and cleaned up. Then we all watched "Night at the Museum - Battle of the Smithsonian", picking out things we had seen the day before.

The snow is beautiful, there is probably about a foot already and more falling. Our tentative plan is to head south Sunday, but we can stay longer if necessary. We are having a great time!

OUR DAY IN WASHINGTON D.C.

Thursday morning we saw the inside of the White House. Then we rode the metro system and went to the Air and Space Museum. We also saw the Natural History Museum, where there are dinosaur bones. Our hotel is in Chinatown, so we went to Tony Chang for dinner.

Our Second day in PHILADELPHIA

Today we slept in a little, then walked to see the Liberty Bell, which is cracked. Then we went across the street to Independence Hall. We took a tour and saw the room where they signed the Declaration of Independence. They also signed the constitution there and we saw George Washington's chair. Ypstairs was a library and a dining hall. Then we walked to the Old City Tavern for lunch. There were no hamburgers on the menu, so Cory ate duck with french fries. Everyone tried something new. The biscuits were a recipe used by Thomas Jefferson. Then we drove to Washington DC.

Philly to Washington, DC

It has been a long day as we pulled up camp and headed for the capital city. The check-out, long trip, check-in and luggage hauling has us all bushed. We arrived safely at our hotel near the Chinatown section of Washington, had dinner, and are getting to bed early so as to be bright for our early visit to the White House tomorrow morning. Maybe we will get invited to a Presidential reception...who knows. We will update more tomorrow.
